AMOR DE MI ALMA
High voice and Piano or Low voice and Piano
NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER
Z. Randall Stroope wrote a choral setting of this work which is available from Walton Music. However, this solo version (for either high or low voice) is only available in e-music from www.zrstroope.com
The text is by Garcilaso de la Vega (1501-1536), Spanish Golden Age poet. He was a vivid example of a “Renaissance” person – skilled in music, letters, arms, and in the battles of love. His poetic output is not large, but its high quality places him among the finest of the Spanish Renaissance poets. Garcilaso de la Vega was the son of a Spanish nobleman, and he was on the royal guard of Charles V.
